My grandmother read me two books every time my brother and I would spend the night: The Little Red Caboose and The Giving Tree. These two books really helped form the foundation of my outlook on life.

“I think I can, I think I can…” is always my go-to motto on a diet. And with just four weeks to my birthday, I’m screaming it in my head louder than ever.
I feel a little rebellious because I know now the only way to reach my goal by my birthday is starvation station. I have been following the diet pretty hardcore, with the exception of my cheat days, and I have been losing weight (1.5 pounds this week!) but my goal was a little lofty and with the two weeks of Holiday amnesia I won’t be exactly on point.
But I am down a little more than ten pounds and though I might be forty and a month, “I think I can, I think I can” reach my goal. I also know that starvation station only leads to faster amnesia and the yo-yo of gaining it back just as fast. And the real goal is to see my eightieth birthday! So I will keep chugging along.
Until next week,
G
